Certificate in Computing (Theory)
  The programme consists of 6 modules, to be taught over the terms:
  1. Components of a Computer System and Modes of Use
  2. System Software
  3. Programming Tools and Techniques
  4. Hardware
  5. Data Transmission and Networking
  6. Systems Development Life cycle
Programme Duration:
  3 months part-time time
Teaching Mode:
  Teaching materials will be in English. Lectures and tutorials will be conducted mainly in Cantonese supplemented by English.
Entry Requirements:
  • F.5 graduate with HKCEE passes in and Mathematics / Computing; or
  • F.5 graduate and one year additional study in Computing Technology/ Information Technology subjects or
  • Other candidates with combined equivalent education/ training/ experience to be assessed by an interview panel.

Individual interview may be required for those who do NOT have 5 passes in HKCEE or other relevant accredited qualifications in the People Republic of China or overseas institutions.

  Computers influence the lives of everyone around the work. Almost every career now involves using computers as a key requirement. In the increasingly dynamic employment market, people need to be able to work productively with computers, and to keep their computing skills up to date. This is true for employees at all levels, whatever their responsibilities and the kinds of organization and environment in which they work. The global impact of computing goes beyond the world of work.
Award & Assessment:
  • Attendance: A minimum attendance of 70% per module is required.
  • Upon completion of the course successfully, students will receive a Certificate in Computing from Penasia Institute.
